On November 16, 2021, a remote civil jury in the United States District Court in Seattle determined that FedEx Freight Inc. must pay $6.85 million to a former employee who was forced out of the company because of his disability. Beth Bloom served as trial counsel alongside Ada Wong in the case, which is believed to be one of the first jury trials conducted entirely via the videoconferencing platform Zoom. Federal Judge Marsha J. Pechman controlled the proceedings of the 8-day trial from her chambers in the U.S. District Courthouse in downtown Seattle while the attorneys presented the witnesses and evidence entirely via video.
